From Latinos to Russians to Spaniards to Americans; from crooks to heroes; from prime time to kids time; in English and Spanish; on tv, film and theatre, Alejandro Furth has shown versatility to critical success.

As the world finds its rhythm in this “new normal”, Mr. Furth continuous his work on a new Apple Plus TV – Mark Boal project. Currently, Alejandro can be seen portraying Roman Salgado, a journalist known for his reporting on corruption and drug trafficking, in the international hit series Narcos: Mexico, on Netflix. Alejandro has two SAG Award nominations along with the cast of BARRY (HBO), for “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.”

Alejandro was born and raised in Venezuela. At the age of 18 he moved to Boston, Massachusetts, to study hotel management at Northeastern University. It is in this new city that Alejandro began developing an appetite for the stage while experimenting on the local stages. Fully bitten by the bug, Alejandro moved to the Big Apple to attend the prestigious Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre. While in New York, he became a member of the award-winning The Lab Theatre (formerly Circle Rep Lab) and the LAByrinth Theater Company (Philip Seymour Hoffman, artistic director).IMDB

Despite his TV and film work (IMDB), Alejandro hasn’t forgotten his roots. Upon moving to Los Angeles, he founded La Comuna, the Latino-production unit of the award winning MET Theatre in Hollywood, where he directed and produced new works. After La Comuna, Mr. Furth became a member of the award winning company The Elephant Theatre. Here, he did the West Coast premiere of Tony award nominee playwright, Stephen Adly Guirgis’ “The Little Flower of East Orange”. In 2019, Furth starred in the English version of José Sanchis Sinisterra’s Spanish classic, AY, CARMELA! at the Hudson Theatre in Hollywood. The production had the direction of Venezuelan award-wining director Alberto Arvelo, the sets of world-renowned architect Frank Gehry and the music of LA’s Phil conductor Gustavo Dudamel.

In 2009, looking for new venues of expression, Alejandro paid a visit to the “world” and quickly opened the door to new markets.  That same year he worked in the prime-time show “Plan America” on TVE, Spain’s number one TV network. Also that year he made his way to Venezuela and starred in “La Hora Cero” (The Zero Hour”), Venezuela’s highest grossing film at the time, for which he received high critical acclaim. Back in Spain, Mr. Furth was cast in two miniseries: “No Soy Como Tu” for Antena 3, opposite Alberto Ammann, 2010 Goya winner; and “Vuelo IL8714” for TV 5, with Joaquim de Almeida. Alejandro co-starred in Alberto Arvelo’s epic film LIBERTADOR, opposite Edgar Ramirez, Danny Huston, Iwan Rhean and Gary Lewis. LIBERTADOR made the short list for “Best Foreign Film” in the 2014 Academy Awards. In Colombia he co-starred next to Julia Stiles and Stephen Rea in Participants’ horror thriller “OUT OF THE DARK”.

Alejandro Furth, is a board member of “Venezolanos en Hollywood”, a non-profit organization that promotes Venezuelan artists in the USA.

Alejandro, junto al elenco de Barry (HBO), fueron nominados dos veces, por el sindicato de actores (SAG), como “mejor elenco en una comedia.”

A los 18 años, Alejandro se muda a Boston, Massachusetts, desde Venezuela, para estudiar hostelería. Es en esta ciudad donde, sin ni siquiera saberlo, comienza a formarse sobre las tablas de los teatros locales. Al graduarse de la universidad, y habiendo encontrado un nuevo causal de vida, Alejandro se muda a Nueva York para estudiar actuación en el prestigioso conservatorio The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre. Pronto comienza a tener éxito en los teatros locales, a la misma vez que obtiene pequeñas participaciones en el cine y la televisión americana. Ya en Hollywood, Alejandro expande su currículum participando en el cine y televisión americana. IMDB. A pesar de su constante trabajo frente a las cámaras, Alejandro se mantiene cercano a su pecado original y funda La Comuna, la sección Latina del galardonado MET Theater en Hollywood, donde produce y dirige obras originales en inglés y español. Después de La Comuna, Alejandro forma parte de la prestigiosa compañía de teatro The Elephant Theatre, donde estrenó “The Little Flower of East Orange”, de Stephen Adly Guirgis; escritor nominado al premio Tony. En el 2018, Furth protagoniza el clásico español, “Ay, Carmela!”, de José Sanchis Sinisterra. La producción es dirigida por el galardonado director venezolano Alberto Arvelo, con escenarios diseñados por el arquitecto Frank Gehry, música original del maestro Gustavo Dudamel y traducida al inglés por Nilo Cruz, ganador del premio Pulitzer.

Siempre buscando nuevos horizontes, Alejandro decide cruzar fronteras. En España consigue un personaje patagónico en la serie “Plan América”, para Televisión Española, y vuela a Venezuela para protagonizar “La Hora Cero”, la película más taquillera de la historia cinematográfica de este país hasta ese momento. El Sr. Furth regresa a España en esos años para participar en dos miniseries: “No Soy Como Tu”, junto a Alberto Ammann, ganador de un Goya y “Vuelo IL8714”, junto a Joaquim de Almeida. Bajo la batuta del director Alberto Arvelo, Alejandro encarna al General Rafael Urdaneta en “Libertador”, película finalista a “mejor película extranjera” en los Oscares. Adicionalmente, Alejandro rodó en Colombia “Out of the Dark”, para la productora Dynamo, junto a Julia Stiles y Stephen Rae.

Alejandro es miembro de la junta directiva de “Venezolanos en Hollywood”, organización sin fines de lucro la cual promueve al artista Venezolano en el Hollywood.
